1. Zero Server-Side Storage Architecture
ResumeCopy operates with zero server-side storage. Resumes, job descriptions, and personal details stay in your browser's local memory for deterministic ATS scoring and editing. When you choose to use AI-assisted optimization or generation features, text is transmitted securely over HTTPS in transit to Google's Gemini API to generate optimizations and is never saved to a ResumeCopy database.
Unlike commercial resume builders that harvest and store candidate resumes, ResumeCopy runs its deterministic ATS scoring engine (computeATSScore), PDF/DOCX compilation, and primary client-side text extraction in browser memory with zero database storage. Optional AI rewriting and experimental scanned-PDF OCR securely transit ephemeral text to the Google Gemini API with zero retention.
How to verify client-side scoring right now:
- Press F12 or right-click → Inspect to open Developer Tools.
- Select the Network tab.
- Paste or edit your resume text in our live scorer—you will observe 0 network calls for live ATS scoring and 0 bytes persisted to any database server.
2. API Keys
Your AI API keys (Google Gemini, if using BYOK mode) are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. They are never transmitted to ResumeCopy servers. These keys are sent directly to Google for processing.

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (page views, session duration, device type). This data is used solely to improve the service. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics. You can decline analytics cookies via our cookie consent banner.

ResumeCopy does not use first-party tracking cookies. Google Analytics may set cookies as described in Google's privacy policy. We ask for your consent before enabling analytics cookies. The only local storage used is for your API keys and preferences.
6. Data Retention
Since ResumeCopy does not store any data on our servers, there is no data retention period. All data is cleared from browser memory when you close the tab.

ResumeCopy is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
